Natural & Vegeterian Empty Hard Capsule

Pullulan capsules are hard capsules made of natural pullulan with the addition of auxiliary materials. Pullulan is a mucopolysaccharide that is water-soluble and produced by the fermentation of Aureobasidium pullulans using sucrose or glucose as a substrate. It has a molecular weight of 2×105Da and contains maltotriose repeat units linked by α-(1-6)-glycosidic bonds.

Pullulan polysaccharide is known for its excellent solubility, biocompatibility, film-forming property, heat-sealing property, oxygen barrier, and chemical stability. The formed pullulan polysaccharide film is highly stable, transparent, and has good mechanical strength and solubility. It also has remarkable oxygen barrier properties, making it widely used in the pharmaceutical and food industries as capsule forming agents, thickeners, adhesives, and food packaging materials.

In Japan, pullulan has been used as a food supplement for over two decades and has passed the Generally Recognized as Safe (GRAS) certification in the United States.
